very very purple

13th August 2017, Hepburn Moor, 11am

The heather is looking amazing just now.  I suspect this profusion of heather comes in part from the grouse moor management where heather is burnt and regenerates fresh growth for the grouse to feed on.

It was therefore great to wander up Ros Castle (owned by the National Trust) to see more diversity in among the beautiful heather. Ferns, rowans, blaeberries and many different types of bees going crackers for the heather flowers.
