diamonds are forever

There’s an area of whinstone rock uncovered by the recent stormy weather and it contains a number of mineral veins. This is quite unusual as the whinstone outcrops are normally just black volcanic rock. The rusty quartz contained in the veins produces pebbles known as “Dunstanburgh Diamonds” and I’ve found a couple over the years.

I’ve also seen an article saying the large black boulders by the castle are called Dunstanburgh Diamonds but I think this might be folk tales going astray...
